Tour East Hawaii

Waipio Vally is only about a 1 hour drive north of Hilo. Can it get more beautiful?

And yes, we do have waterfalls.

Snow in Hawaii! Only on the Big Island. But don’t worry, it’s NOT cold down here!

Swim with the Honu (sea turtles) in Champagne Cove (Kapoho)

This beautiful drive is only 5 minutes north of Hilo!

We took this ocean view shot on the Red Road Drive! You won’t want to miss this.

This tropical rain forest is located in Volcano National Park.

Akaka Falls. This waterfall is only a 20 drive north of Hilo!

The famous Kapoho Tidepools… swim and snorkel till your heart’s content – THE BEST!

We took these shots, and couldn’t keep from taking more and more. Aren’t digital cameras wonderful?

And Kilauea! You can’t miss THE VOLCANO.

Spend hours at the rim, and in the rain forest, and hiking the trails, checking out the Thurston Lava tube, or at the Visitors Center.

And don’t forget Pahoa! Pahoa is a funky little throw-back town frequented by locals, hippies, new-agers, and a supporting cast of colorful characters who defy description. Take way the cars and paved road, and you’ve got the wild west. Raised wooden sidewalks (boardwalks), stores stocked with both the local and exotic and wonderful restaurants of great ethnic variety: Thai (Ning’s and Sukothai), Mexican (Luquin’s) and many other great restaurants with quality food. If you’re staying in the Kapoho area, then you’ll be in our “neck of the woods”. Remember, when you visit here, you’re in the Real Hawaii. We’re “off the beaten path”, and that’s what makes East Hawaii so very special. You can choose the regular “tourist traps”, or the beauty and experience that Hilo and East Hawaii have to offer! So, what are you waiting for? Come on over!

Ahalanui Hot Springs – a public park: For snorkeling or just relaxing in the 95 degree geothermally heated water is a great place to spend an afternoon with family and friends. The inlet is safe and a life-guard is on duty. There are no concession stands, so bring along plenty of food and water. And please don’t forget the sunscreen. This is only a five minute drive from our Kapoho vacation rentals!

You’re going to fall in love with Hilo. At about 50,000 population, it’s the 2nd largest city in the state. Hilo hasn’t lost the “small town feel”, so come on into town and shop, visit the museums, and dine!
