Kapoho Ponds “Upstairs” is located in the highly desirable, ever-sunny gated Kapoho Beach Lots subdivison. This vacation home has its own swimmable warm pond that 90 degrees YEAR ROUND! And if you want to snorkel with honu (sea turtle), the best place is only steps away – Champagne Pond. Champagne Pond is a protected cove that is open to the Big Blue Pacific, and you’ll be just steps from some of the most spectacular snorkeling found on the Big Island. Green sea turtles (honu) love this area because of its warm temperatures and so will you! From the house, you can hear the waves and smell the clear breeze blowing across the Pacific (cleanest air in the US). Yes, this is Paradise!
Just a five minute drive down the famous Red Road is the Ahalanui Warm Spring Park which is a geothermally heated swimming pond at the edge of the Pacific Ocean. Since Kapoho is located at the furthest most eastern edge of the Big Island, it enjoys drier weather and those comfortable ocean trade winds. Just a ten minute drive is the quaint and historical village of Pahoa with its original boardwalks, shopping, and fantastic dining! There’s Italian, Thai and even Tex-Mex!
Kapoho Ponds Upstairs has been recently remodeled and has all new amenities. It sleeps up to 6 people. There are three spacious bedrooms and one and 1/2 bathrooms. The master bedroom has a queen bed (and the 1/2 bath), the 2nd bedroom has a queen and the third bedroom has two twins. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need to fix up a traditional island meal. Other amenities to make your stay more comfortable are a washer/dryer, Flat screen Satellite TV, DVD player, telephone, unlimited internet, and of course all linens and kitchenware included.
And, don’t miss old Pahoa town, just a short 4 mile drive from the hale where you will find the original boardwalks that date back to the late 1800’s when this sleepy little town was king in the sugar plantation days. There is great dining in this little town with Italian, Thai, Chinese and Tex-Mex. Hilo town with all of it’s historical points of interest, color and famous for it’s friendly people is only about 20 minutes away and the ever changing Volcanoes National Park is about a 40 minute drive.
