Located between the quaint villages of Kea’au and Pahoa, Hale Kauka is just a short 20 minute drive from Hilo. Hale Kauka is an incredibly beautiful property and is wonderfully private. With its gorgeous 2 bedroom, 2 bath unique octagonal home with pool and hot tub! This property has been lovingly and creatively landscaped and even though it is close and convenient to all of the sightseeing stops, it also has a very rural and natural feel about it.
The main house with its gorgeous wood accents and leaded glass French doors welcomes you into a lovely living room, large open kitchen with eat at bar, and bedroom and bath. For extra privacy, walk across the covered walkway adjacent the pool to the very large, separate master bedroom with its own private bath, washer/dryer and high speed internet connection. For those lazy, quiet evenings, there is even a TV in the master bedroom. And don’t forget the hot tub! Absolutely perfect for closing out the day with a soak staring up at the gorgeous star filled skies that only the Big Island can provide!
Dining can be in or out. If you like, you can certainly dine at the eat at bar adjacent to the kitchen, or do like the locals and eat out on the covered lanai next to the pool. When in Rome!
In either direction are the villages of Kea’au and Pahoa where you will experience wonderful dining to include terrific Thai, mouth watering Italian and even Tex-Mex! There are full size grocery stores in either village for your shopping convenience. Hilo town with its fantastic farmer’s markets and old town history is only a 20 minute drive and don’t miss the Maku’u market every Sunday! It’s in the same area as Hale Kea and features local artisans as well as fresh locally grown veggies, fruits and sometimes local entertainment!
Swimming, snorkeling and hot ponds are only about another 15 minute drive south to the lovely and always sunny Kapoho. You’ll not find another area quite like this on any of the other islands. And, don’t forget the Volcanoes National Park where you will always see Mother Earth in action.
